About Kaslander

History

Kaslander Lumber was originally founded in Newark as Morbach Lumber by John Morbach. It was here Aren Kaslander began his storied career in the building supplies industry. In the 1950s, Aren began working for Morbach Lumber. In December 1960, he and his son, Bob Kaslander Sr., purchased the company together and renamed it Morbach-Kaslander Lumber Company. Twenty years later, the company’s name was officially changed to Kaslander Lumber.

Fun fact: Prior to its long history as a lumber company, the Kaslander family believes the land in Newark was used as a working horse farm or stable. When the land changed hands, the company owners found equine supplies and horse tack inside the sheds and barns, indicating its prior life as a horse farm.
